FAQ

Hexadoku Evil is the hardest difficulty level of Hexadoku — a 16×16 Sudoku variant played with sixteen symbols: 1–9 and A–G. Evil puzzles start with 40–48 clues across 256 cells and require advanced solving techniques such as fish patterns, long AIC chains, and proof-based candidate elimination. It is designed for solvers who already feel comfortable with Hexadoku Expert and Extreme.
Hexadoku Extreme already requires full fish hierarchy, XYZ-Wing, and 12–18-link AIC chains. Hexadoku Evil reduces the clue count further and gives fewer direct breakthroughs. The techniques are similar, but the logic is deeper: candidates remain unresolved for longer, chains stretch farther across the grid, and each elimination must be checked more carefully before a placement becomes certain.
Yes. Hexadoku Evil puzzles should still be solvable through logic alone. The solving path may involve long chains and contradiction-based eliminations, but those are valid logical methods when each step is verified. If you feel forced to guess, it usually means a fish pattern, AIC chain, locked candidate, or hidden pair has not yet been found.
